Did you know that May is Stroke Awareness Month? High blood pressure is one of the leading risk factors that can cause a stroke. This is why it is so important to take your blood pressure regularly and make sure your readings are within normal range.

What is a stroke? A stroke, sometimes called a “brain attack,” occurs when blood flow to an area in the brain is cut off. The brain cells, deprived of the oxygen and glucose needed to survive, die. If a stroke is not caught early, permanent brain damage or death can result.

A couple of weeks ago, I had some routine medical tests and had to have a couple of additional procedures. I am a very nervous person and I get very anxious when it comes to my family’s health.
